Dark Bottomless Pit

It's the only thing I knew before I had you,
This dark bottomless pit in the ground.
It seemed to be my everything,
I thought it to be happiness.

You grabbed me,
Dragged me out forcefully.
You showed me what happiness truly means,
I knew from that day that I'll be yours.

I walked with you every step of the way,
Never stopping, never turning back.
We walked on for forever,
It felt like it would never end.

Suddenly, the dark pit beckons for me once again.
No! I don't want to return to it.
You hold on to me tightly,
Never letting go.

Let go!
Let go!
We hear the voices around us,
We tremble in fear.

Let go this instant!
Never continue!
No, you hold on tightly,
I see the tears flowing from your eyes.

Your tears sparkled like diamonds,
They streamed down your face,
Leaving behind a line of liquid,
Showing the world your hurt and pain.

I too will never let go,
I hold on,
Arms weak and tired,
Nevertheless, holding on.

Stop it! Stop forcing us apart!
We shout to the voices around us.
We need each other,
We are incomplete without the other.

The voices faded.
I see the shadows fading.
The dark bottomless pit seems distant.

What are left are two bodies holding each other in tight embrace,
Both not bearing to let go of the other.

Love overcomes in the end.
