Land of the Greedy, Home of the Vain

Where the poor can be fat and the rich must be thin.
Where pallor is “ugly” and sunburn is “in.”
Where losers can live and winners don’t always win.
Where obesity’s spreading and starvation is fin.

Land of the greedy,
Home of the vain.

Where concerns include makeup and the usage of weed.
Where the money is free to all those in need,
But only the “natives” of this gorgeous breed.
Where the dying are stopped at the gate in their greed.

Land of the greedy,
Home of the vain.

Where opposites rule because they are ours.
Where, rather than aid, we buy fancy cars.
Where the poor work the fields and the rich sit in bars.
Half ruled by tin Gods, half ruled by the stars.

Where heartburn’s an illness; breast cancer, a pain.
Where the twelve dollar shoes are our biggest bane,
As they put not a dent in the money we gain.
But perhaps make us feel just a little less vain.
But the vanity’s always so horribly plain.
The rich just get richer and sharing ain’t sane
In the Land of the Greedy, Home of the Vain.
