All these people
I said
All these people
With their shirts tucked in
With their awkward grins
I said
Maybe just once in a while
I'll use them for my own purposes
I'll tell them the sky is falling down
Dig a shelter, hit the ground
And don't forget to blame the mayor
I'll tell them that they should trust no one else
For I am the demagogue of the neighborhood

All these people have never
Been pinned against each other
I'll ignite a scandal
Watch them run for cover
I said
Maybe I'll choose a side
My followers loathing and prejudiced
Against the my self-proclaimed enemy
Just look at how much I've accomplished
For I am the demagogue of the neighborhood

All these people
I said
All these people
They are my disciples
They are my disciples
Maybe I'll put the youth into brigades
I think I'm going to run for city council
I'll make all my talks into campaign speeches
I said
I'll have the law on my side
When I am the demagogue
I said
The elections will be corrupt
The decaying system will be damned
With my power I'll sure make good
When I am the demagogue of the neighborhood
