Mommy, daddy is coming home late again

Why won’t he tell you where he’s been?

What’s that smell on his breath?

It was there the last time we left

Are daddies supposed to treat mommies this way?

I heard you crying last night as I lay

Why do you cover your bruise under your eye?

When people ask how you’ve been, why do you lie?

Last night I heard you pray to God

Your voice was shaky and sounded so odd

So I asked God to make us happy once more

Just like we were before
