Forgotten Eden

Wisps of emerald breezes
Cling hopelessly to the despondent air

Visions of vibrant stalks of life
Wilt among the brittle husks

Traces of dark earth
Crumble into ebony ashes

Looming black clouds choke out all essence
Of sunbeams dancing upon broad green leaves

Thin soot streaked crows peck away the joy
That came from the kaleidoscope of blooming petals

Bitter winds slash apart the last
Colorful memories of laughter

And there in the solitude
Thorns of neglect and chaos tangle endlessly
