The first time, there was a hitch.
The second time – another glitch.
Emptiness reigns in the mailbox;
Friendship’s on the rocks.

I’m ridiculously gullible –
Your pleas make one malleable;
I take a friendly if firm stance:
You’ve got one last chance.

Third time does it all –
Friendship’s downfall.
You view friendship as a chore;
Therefore, I trust you no more.
