I see yellow and red

Falling from heaven

The new is coming

The old will be dead

Change is chiming

Writers rhyming

All to see it over again

The rise and fall of all these men

The ground is covered with abandoning jackets

That the trees may freeze and fall to hatchets

Starving for love

Missing the warmth

They shiver in shame

With fear from above

Their growth has ended

Their wounds left unmended

Alone and afraid

Dreadful dangers they’ve made

Loss of life and liberty

Looming loveless tyranny

All to become

Getting ready for this

Gathering courage for what is to come

Will you make it

Or will you see the betrayal of Beeches

And the omen of Oaks

The dilemma of all deciduous

Or the pride of the pines
