A secret slips out invades our silence

Spreading its tendrils to test the ground

Soft and unstable under new born creepers

Then finding its roots it grows steadily,

Beginning to bloom.

I look at you surprised as you turn away

But something draws you back.

Our eyes meet.

And in a second I see the hurt hidden in humour

The smile that buries all that you feel.

In that second I touch you

Fingertips to cloth and your smile slips back.

I tell you to call me and you say you will

Though we both know you won’t

But it doesn’t matter.

One touch was enough.
