My name is Rosemary, born Lacey Jacobi 18 years ago in the very village in which my home overlooks. I lived there until my 17th year. I was 17 and 10 months when I moved into Dreamstone manor as a permanent resident.

My position is technically, maid, and I do my job. I am also the retainer, if you will, of the family secrets. And this family has plenty of secrets. I keep them because to betray them would mean my death. Though it’s not as dismal a thought as you’d think; at least dead, I could be left alone.

As the only warm and breathing creature in this castle, I enjoy a certain amount of distaste and envy. Diazien, the heir to the Wolf Family, accepts my presence without question. I like him. Warren, the family butler, regards me like a rich man regards a beggar: with utter disgust and, at times, horror. He is, however, reliable, and hasn’t the power to touch me.

I arrived here under the pretense of applying for a position as a maid. I knew Id have to live here, seeing as how its so far from the village, but I also knew I would be returning home once in a while, at least, to see my family and give them what wages I can spare. I was wrong on that point, however.

Two months into arriving, I discovered a rather grim and deadly family secret...and haven’t been home since. The Wolf family, though Diazien is the only member of which that still keeps his last name, is a very old and power family. Diazien himself is the 3 generation born into it, and since the family name goes back a couple hundred years...you can only guess as to what his age must be. I don’t even know.

Both Diazien and Warren are undead creatures. Diazien is a vampire (or the closest thing you can be to one) and Warren...I don’t know what his classification is, but he serves Diazien. I serve Diazien too, but only as a maid, cleaning up around the most frequently used parts of the house. I don’t go into the dungeons or most of the rooms in the various unused halls. They are junk rooms. And I don’t want to know what the undead call “junk”.

That’s enough history for tonight. The sun is setting, and I have chores to finish before they wake up.

It getslonely being the only creature awake during the daylight hours.

Rosemary
