At first we lied
and got our way.
We didn't yet know of
unintended consequences!
We didn't mean it! We swear!

(sigh.)

We sat on top of mountaintops.
The hike was long and we were glad
to shake the snowflakes from out head,
to see from miles and to point
at cars and buildings.
They were our ants and anthills.

Pesky, pesky ants!
We can crush them between our fingers!
We can squish them beneath our feet!
Ants don't sting! Ants don't bite!
We were huge! We were giants!
We could see far beyond their horizons,
therefore we were omnipotent.
We forgot that we were only propped up by mountains,
blown out of proportion by false ideas.
