I wrote this either during seventh grade or not too long after, but however long ago it actually was, it seems absolutely ancient to a sophomore like me, who is way too cool for junior high stuff (hah). A friend of mine, a particular guy, and I ran around terrorizing each other and joking around and bothering the general community. It is a snapshot of a bygone age. However, I was quite proud of it at the time and so I have posted it. Oh, and just a note, we never actually beat him up, we just chased him around and yelled at him a lot. It just rhymed nicely, is all.

A New Kind of Madness
See you “unexpectedly” on the street

The place you told me you would meet

I recruit a friend or two

To go straight there and ignore you.

Dial your number on the phone

Make you think I’m home alone

After we have called your bluff

We realize it was not enough

Doorbell-ditch and skate away

I know it was you and you will pay

We chase you and a friend down the road

Yelling how you’re such a toad

You slip and fall, a mess you’ve made

I run inside and grab a Band-Aid

A wind picks up, the bushes sway

Forgotten Band-Aid floats away

Do our hair to beat you up

Now I think I need a cup

Of tea to soothe my shaken heart

You pierce my mind just like a dart

A new kind of madness, yes indeed

Hurts my soul and makes me bleed

I recruit a friend or two

We go straight there and ignore you.

I would greatly appreciate any comments or constructive criticism you have to offer.
