A/N: Ok... I know it's a bit ambiguous because I talked to some people about it and they didn't get it, so I'll tell you this first. The "him" in the poem refers to your boss at work or anyone piling work on top of you. I don't mean to poke fun at the bosses out there (I'm in no position to because I'm not even out in the working world yet) but this was just a little 'for-fun' thing to get my mind of my own work... Enjoy! :)

The Anthem of Working Ones

Have you heard the truth of work?
The bits and grim of endless murk
A song I sing, no intended puns
The Anthem of the Working Ones!

The chant of papers shuffling in
The cries of letters in the bin
Your hands are limp, your head is heavy
Straighten now lest words go wavy!

Melodies of your keyboard sound
A tinkle more and new mail’s found
Your inbox now is oh-so-full
Yet him around, you keep your cool

The endless knocking on the door
The horrid screeching ‘cross the floor
You hate to see his face again
A face you know you cannot maim

The swoosh of papers on your table
The buzz of hardware and their cables
You’d love to give that face a glare
Though I wish you best in what you’d fare

A chime is heard as his phone rings
“Hello? Hello” and again he sings
You plug your ears from horrid noise
“Please try maintain your ‘perfect’ poise!”

A chorus sighs, he leaves the room
And following him, a resounding boom
Your work now high as day began
Though smiles are weary, faces wan

The Anthem! The Anthem!
The Song for Working Phantoms!
I wish you luck in days to come
Though wish you more that you’d have some
