Seasons of Love

Tentative smiles cast across a room

Like the sprouting of a newborn clover.

Hesitantly it grows, reaching for the light

Bursting up through the fading snow.

Day after day it gains momentum

Growing by leaps and bounds.

The days begin to warm and lengthen

Two hearts grow closer together.

Steadily the heat begins to rise

Passionate kisses shared under honeysuckle vines.

Days that never end and nights that hardly begin

Hands laced together in the cool theater.

Silently the streams begin to shrink

Harsh words pass between pursed lips.

The leaves begin turning to golden hues

An imperceptible divide forms, invisible to most.

The nights grow sooner, the air cooler

Promises made are soon forgotten.

Snowflake's fall, slipping away like grains of time

Icy glares and silence begin to fill their life.

Leaves die and fade away

Carrying their love on wrinkled backs.

Freezing blizzard's cut through the sky

A moment of eternity and all is gone.

The seasons of love are ever-changing

Swiftly moving and never seizing.

Spring brings hope.

Summer brings passion.

Fall brings apathy.

Winter brings sorrow.

We all feel it, under our skin

And against our souls.
