Capricious in Contentment

An irresistible toil
Drawn from your avenue, to your thoughts
Another schizoid memory
Incendiary imagination, like sparks of creativity –
Yet useless
Interest lingers not in simple, mortal ashes
As life lingers not in her fragile, mortal body

Diseased vapor pressed from her lungs
“Another cig, dearest, to ease the stress?”
Corruption disguised in an innocent façade
Such a lonely apprehension, to be without her therapy
Soothing and subversive…
A friendly assassin, one might say.

Oxymoron diminished by sightless eyes
Once electric blue, now opaque
Raven hair laced with nicotine
Smooth lips, crimson-tinged, still claiming hold over fatal reminiscence
Impeccable, the things we revere
‘Tis simply too arduous to refrain, I surmise.
