Chapter 4

Things weren’t looking good for Shane. With no wolf powers to fight the goblins, he was done for. He ran into the science lab and hid behind the teacher’s desk. “C’mon, Wolf Mode... Darn, I still can’t control these powers yet!”

One goblin knight came out with a sword. “You can’t hide from me, werewolf kid!” He said, about to come up to the desk with his sword, when a strange black blur came crashing through the window.

It was revealed to be Milo, but he was now black furred instead of orange. “Hey goblins, let’s play!” The dog said, wagging his tail. One goblin knight tried to hit him with his sword, but Milo ran right around him, grabbed him by the leg with his teeth and threw him with his mouth at the other goblin knights. Milo then jumped in the air, holding a chair on his back, and chucked it at the goblin hoard on the ground. Shane came out to see what was going on. Milo then turned his paws into huge sharp claws and attacked the goblins and sent them through the door into a locker. He trotted over on his paws and opened the door with his tail to see them gone, leaving a cloud of green smoke. “And don’t ever come back, ya bums!” He boomed, closing the locker door. He walked back into the room where Shane was waiting.

“How did you-” But Milo interrupted him. “We were together at the accident, right? I have the ability to communicate to you, and I can sense when you’re in danger, and use your powers too. It’s called a psychic connection, Einstein.”

“So you stole my powers to have a shot of glory?” Shane asked. “No, more like your powers were about to be thrown into the garbage can and I caught them before they could be.” Milo retorted.

“Well, could I have them back?” He asked. “Alright, but afterwards I’m possessing you so you can take me home.” Milo said. He got on his hind legs, and touched his front paws to Shane’s hands, and a bright aura covered the two of them. Milo went back to his orange color, and Shane turned into a werewolf once more. He looked in the mirror in the classroom. “Ah yeah, I’m back, I- wait, what’s that about possessing me?”

Soon enough, Milo’s eyes glowed large, and the werewolf fell under his control. Shane, under the trance, picked up Milo, and dashed quickly across the city and managed to get to his house in about 30 seconds. He dropped the dog off, but Milo landed in the pool of the backyard by mistake. The trance ended right after that. “Hey, nice aim!” Milo said. “Hey, next time, I’m possessing you!” Shane said, jumping and dashing back to the school.

He returned back to the lunch tables in human form where Rachel and Mike awaited, as everyone had returned after the attack. The two friends were at a new table. “What was that all about?” Rachel asked. “I don’t know, but something’s going on with diamonds and goblins, and I need to find out just what it is.”

Mike, Shane and Rachel were in Gym class now, and soon enough, Shane had been picked to do an obstacle course by the teacher Mr. Perry, racing the muscle-bound school bully, Bobby White. He had blond spiky hair and a fierce attitude. “Hey Allen, eat my dust! You couldn’t win this if I had 100 tons strapped on my back!” He taunted. “That can be arranged.” Shane said. “No one bad mouths Bobby White! You’ll pay for this!” He retorted.

“On your mark, get set, GO!” Mr. Perry said.

The two started jumping through tires first, and Shane let Bobby take a light lead, and then came the rope climbing. Shane powered through this easily, showing up Bobby. He then came down, and ran up some stairs, jumped over some more obstacles, and was just about to reach the finish line thanks to his superpowers, and then, a cloud of green smoke appeared in the air.

Once the smoke cleared, it was revealed to be the Goblin King going at it alone. Everyone, including Bobby, ran out screaming for their lives. Mike and Rachel stayed, if still frightened by the thought of supernatural monsters. “Strange, Bobby’s always ready to be tough in front of me, but he screams like a little girl in the face of 1 simple goblin.” Shane commented. He ran through the hallway, and slid sharply into the empty boy’s bathroom. “Wolf Mode!” He said, jumping into the air turning back into the Wolf Warrior.

He came back out and charged into the gym room, where the goblin king was about to hurt Mike and Rachel. “Tell me where the diamonds are, or-”

“Or you’ll harm someone that is of no threat to you. That’s low.” Shane commented. Grabbing a pair of tires, he chucked them at the creature, causing him to land against the wall. Shane ran across and grabbed the goblin king’s robe with his hands. “Alright Greeny, tell me what you want with these diamonds.” Shane threatened. “You don’t scare me, dog. You’re just a child!” The king told him. “Dog? Talk about understatement!” Shane said, throwing the goblin king into the air, and as the werewolf jumped into the air, he saw that his tail was gone and replaced by a strange white flowing energy. He realized he could manipulate the energy, and fly using it. “Hey, if moons can fly, why can’t I, right?” He asked, not expecting an answer. He met face-to-face with the king.

“I don’t have to deal with you! I can find better places for diamonds.” He said, shooting a quick energy blast at the werewolf, sending Shane into the ground, and teleporting out of the school. Shane landed in the ground, weakened and transformed back into a human. Rachel and Mike helped him up.

“Wow, you’re popular with the goblins.” Mike said.
