Four centuries ago in a grand plantation lived the great feudal lord known for his pompous and arrogant self, a charitable daughter, and several hundred servants. Truth be told, the feudal lord could live to become an emperor; however, his love for his city made him stay in the peaceful city of Mekyű. Although his temper and actions were nonetheless below satisfactory, he guarded and ruled his city with great care.

In a room on the second floor stood a girl of about fifteen laying her head on a table looking at the wonderful scenery just outside of her window.

“Mistress, your father wishes for you to continue your studies,” a servant noticed and continued cleaning the room again.

“Why must being born a royal be so tedious, nurse?” the girl asked with a bored tone, twiddling her hands around the table.

“Now, now, there are quite a number of advantages of being royal, young one,” the servant replied and began staring at her work with pleasure, “It looks like I cleaned your room now. I advise you to continue with your studies. The daughter of a feudal lord should not grow up with impudence you know. When you are older and take your father’s place, I must say that you can not rule this land without proper knowledge.”

The girl sighed and contradicted these words, “I’d rather switch places with a beggar than this. I’m going to go ride father’s horse.”

--------------

“Ah, malady! Such a pleasing sight to see you again today, which horse will you choose today?” a young boy asked who obviously was the horse keeper and cleaner.

“The usual,” the girl replied and waited for the gates to open. Then, out came a gleaming white horse whose muscles bulged from its extreme might.

“They say this horse is a god, mistress—quite a beauty, cunning, and rides like the wind,” the boy stated with extreme pride.

“Perhaps that’s why father hates this horse so. He hates perfection you know,” the girl commented and sat up upon the horse, “But, I’m definitely not like him. I think this horse is by far my favorite. He is brave, and I trust him totally. Why don’t you go to the kitchen and get yourself a piece of bread or fruit. If the cooks scold you, say that the daughter of the feudal lord told you that you could eat. Otherwise, they’ll have me to answer to.”

The boy’s small, dirty face lit up from those words, “Why, mistress, I couldn’t do such a thing.”

“Of course you could, now go on,” the girl replied and ushered the young boy to go, “Cute lad.”

--------------

“It’s night now. I’d better go. Oh, I forgot, I have a name for you, lovely and enchanted horse,” the girl spoke kindly, “I shall call you Poseidon from now on. I think it’s a fitting name since that boy called you a god. Poseidon was the Greek mythical god of horses; so, I believe it is suiting. I hope you like it.”

The girl smiled and quickly leaped off the horse. She brought him back into his stable with care. Abruptly, a loud crash was heard nearby. The girl immediately looked out of the window to see the commotion. There- a few meters away- sat a darkly clothed ninja. There was no mistake about it due to the conspicuous dark clothing covering the body and mouth.

“Halt, who goes there?” the girl asked mightily although shaking in her boots.

The ninja looked up in surprise and threw a kunai quickly towards the girl. It grazed her cheek, and she immediately placed her hand towards the blood oozing from it.

“That hurt!” the girl cried out and immediately ran towards the ninja. If it was wrong thing that she could not stand for, it was pain. She began sprinting with all her might towards the ninja.

“Stop, young lady,” the ninja yelled out and smirked out of pride, “It definitely appears that you are weak and can do no harm towards me.”

“What did you say?” the girl spat with disgust.

“I will leave peacefully if you promise to not speak of me,” the ninja compromised.

“What chance is there that I can believe you?” the girl asked.

“Well, you really don’t have a choice, now do you?” the ninja threatened, taking out series of poisonous darts and placing them in between his fingers near her neck.

“Well then, answer my question. Why are you here? Are you from a far land trying to destroy father’s kingdom?” the girl asked but immediately realized using father was a huge mistake.

“So, you are the daughter of the feudal lord here. Interesting…” the ninja commented and sped behind the girl at top speed, “I think you’ll keep this just between us, correct?”

The girl began to sweat incredibly by the dart being about a millimeter away from a vital point. Quickly, partly due to reflexes, she nodded her head slowly, taking great care not to hit the dart.

“Well,” the ninja sighed and placed the dart inside his pocket, “I didn’t realize I’d hit a pot of gold on my first day here. If you dare to speak a word about my whereabouts, then I shall kill you. I expect food and water here at the barn until I acquire enough information.”

“Information? I refuse to do anything for you,” the girl replied out of repugnance.

“You really don’t have a choice, now do you?” the ninja replied and placed his hand in the pocket where he placed the darts.

The girl looked at his hand in fear and stuttered but replied, “No, I suppose not.”

“By the way, out of curiosity, I never heard the feudal lord had a daughter. What is your name?” the ninja asked.

“Amora Sierra,” Sierra answered, “What is yours?”

The ninja was silent for a few seconds but replied, “Well, I suppose it won’t harm me. I simply go by Moro.”

“Don’t expect a friendship to come out of this,” Sierra looked at Moro hard and turned back towards the castle, “If you don’t mind me asking, what is your mission?”

“Now, you already got my name. How do you expect me to give you my mission’s objectives?” Moro asked with a laugh.

“Well, it was a worth a try,” Sierra answered and began walking towards the castle again, “Don’t hurt the white horse by the way.”

“Oh, Poseidon?” Moro clarified.

“First you try and harm me; then you listen to my conversations?” Sierra glared.

“I’m sorry. I overheard,” the ninja replied insincerely.

“You don’t seem like a regular ninja,” Sierra stated, ignoring the insincerity.

“Well, I’m not an ordinary one. I’ll agree to that,” Moro answered and placed his arm behind his head.

--------------

“Sierra, your father wants you,” the nurse relayed and brought Sierra across numerous rooms until they came across a library.

“You called?” Sierra asked.

“Sierra, my guards find that there is an intruder in the area. Have you seen anyone suspicious while riding?” the father asked frankly.

“N-No sir,” Sierra replied and mentally hit herself for stuttering.

“I want you to be careful. You are the heir of my position. I would rather not risk your life from this intruder,” the feudal lord stated and dismissed his daughter.

After Sierra walked out of the room and out of ear shot, she sighed heavily. ‘Does he know?’
