As I was scavenging through corpses of the creatures that often attack me as I leave the town, I found an odd item under a dead carcass: a golden acorn. I kept this little trinket with me, and as I was selling my various furs and trinkets to earn a little extra money, I found that the acorn itself was worth 100 gold! Naturally I sold it, and am now wearing my new hide shirt. I think I may be able to purchase a club or mace to aid with the destruction of the skeletons. That would hasten my training considerably. The sunset has just passed, and the darkness is afoot. I shall retire for the night and log more in the morning.
I have yet gathered enough money to buy a saber, but am saving up for one right now. I deposit all my money in the bank after every session of adventuring, so gathering enough money at once is difficult. I do not wish to withdraw yet, for I may find something worth saving my money for.
Last night was a dreadful shock to me. As I strode across the foggy grasslands, I came across the very familiar fleshless figure, hunched foreword and not even attempting to budge. Not even the maggots crawling in its empty eye sockets made it flinch. I struck it down in four mighty blows, ducking and dodging everything it could throw at me. I have now learned the way these beasts fight, and combined with my new reflexes, am nearly immune to any attack they may muster. But then while gathering the gold from this desecrated corpse, I saw a gleam in the distance. A shiny crown was sitting atop the skull of a fleshless head, and a robe draped over its shoulders. I did not notice any weapons at the time, but did not venture near enough to get a close look. Further in the distance was an even more menacing sight: a hooded figure with eyes that shone in the dark like red flames. Nothing was visible of this man's face, but I dared not disturb him, for he was no adventurer like me. This was a dark, dark thing.
Joyous news! Through all my training, I have finally achieved a comprehension of the elements. Fire, water, earth, and air. Just think, using the power of fire to destroy my enemies! Now I will attempt to defeat this skeleton king, as I saw another do.
I am such a fool. I was utterly defeated by the skeleton king. I swung my blade at it, but barely tore the thing's robe. It streached out it's hand, and before I even realized what sort of attack the king used on me, I was unconsious on the ground. Another adventurer was nearby, luckily, and he stopped the creature from finnishing me off. This man offered me an amulet after he awoke me, and this amulet grants me the ability to teleport back to the temple in town when I loose consiousness. I thanked the man generously and we parted ways. I must train harder and try again. New weapons and armor would help a great deal. I have learned new spells, such as healing and poison. I also have a spell that grants me immunity to the flame and one that grants immunity to poison. I may not get a chance to try these for a long time, for I am still a young adventurer.
I have traveled out far, and found a cave full of treasure. The winged beasts that guard the cave are menacing, yet will not attack me. I found many piles of gold in this cave, and am currently burying the body of a brave man, although he will have no gravemarker other than a smooth stone with the druidic symbol that represents a peacefull departure (often seen on parting gifts given by druids to someone who is going on a journey). God rest his soul. Wait, I see something moving in th
Ah, it was not the harpies that guarded the cave, but the great beasts that lurked inside that had already been killed, that were the peril keeping week men such as myself from looting the cave. They arose from the darkness and rushed upon me, what happened after that I cannot say. I arose again inside the temple in the city of Kiadril. I learned that when I appeared in the temple, there was a shreak heard throught the whole building. Apparently, it took the clerics several days to restore me fully. I dare say, young wanderers, do not take upon yourself the task of what is beyond you. I say no more about this adventure.
I now stare in the face of a creature so vile that it should not be allowed to walk this earth. It is a hideous undead corpse, half rotted and withered away. The detestable insects lurking inside its body make me want to vomit in its presence. I must do away with this abomination at once!
I dare say that these zombies are quite simple do defeat. I shall destroy all that I see.
I was tracking some zombies, which I do admit carry more gold than I expected, and stumbled upon a small cave. Upon entering this cave, I immediately could smell the stench of bat guano, but another foul smell lingered in the moist air. I could not see much, but did notice some bats above head. I ignored these and continued walking. Suddenly, a small beast let out a sort of squeal or grunt from across the cavern! I heard the sound of rushing footsteps and saw before me the ugliest little bastard that I had seen in my life! It was about a head shorter than me, had an oversized nose with flared nostrils that I could have fit gold coins in, and ears at least three inches off the top of his head! His mouth was quite small on his face, but the teeth were deadly looking things. The creature had tough leathery grey skin, and was quite a tough foe to fight. I could barely ever hit the little devil! I wouldn't have killed him if it had not been for my magic. I finally had a chance to try out my poison spell, and it did quite well. I do approve. Use it when you get the chance, especially against an enemy that can dodge as well as this hobgoblin could. I will also add that the bats are easy kills, but I did not find them to be very useful in any way.
With the money that I found in that earlier venture into the cave (the one that I said we would not speak of), I purchased a katana and a shield. The katana is much better than my old sword, which I sold for 75 gold. The shield looks useless, as it is old and rusty, but has proven to take hits much better than my own body- for which I am grateful. I hope it shall be a great aid in my adventures to come.
I have found a building that has a sign posted on the wall simply reading: "Safe House" I am writing this from the shelter of this building.
Not far south of the safe house there is a small pond where tortoises often gather. I have tried to fish at this pond but with little luck. I hope that I may become a better fisher in the future.
I knew I could do it! I caught a small perch, although it is not a large token for all my work, I am impressed with myself for this. I've wasted enough time at this pond, I'll continue exploring more important things.
I have never seen such an odd thing in my life- as I traveled south past the pond there is before me a staircase. But not just any staircase, this is a large cliff with levels cut out of it; at least ten feet down each. But what is strange is that this seventy food wide drop only has one five foot wide set of stairs leading down about ten feet to the next plateau. Then there is another ten foot drop with another set of stairs, but these are on the other edge of the plateau! The next set of stairs are on the far right side of the cliff, about five of six feet further to the right than the first staircase. This goes on down four sets of stairs, in no particular locations. There is a waterfall at the bottom that I didn't notice at the top of the cliff, I guess I was too busy being perplexed by the odd staircase.
I followed a fence that enclosed many tree dwelling beasts, as well as trees (although the latter were not being enclosed because they provided to be any threat of escaping, which a tree would find most difficult, they were yet enclosed in the fence none the less.) Once inside the gate, I headed north.
When I ventured far enough north, I hit the fence that I had first seen. I was naturally disappointed at this. But I did, however, see a fierce beast across the fence. It had a head like a bull, but stood upright like a man! This minotaur was carrying a shield and sword, and I was quite glad of the fence between myself and it. It didn't seem aggressive, but I liked the fence anyways.
I am now back in the cave with the hobgoblins, although they are easily destroyed now. I killed all of the bats, skeletons, and zombies in the first cavern, and found a dagger on the floor. The poor soul that lost that dagger, must have been years ago. Maybe he became one of those dreadful skeletons.
I continued through a small passage filled with bats and spiders. I could see nothing through this passage, as it was nearly pitch black inside the cave. But as I moved foreword, there was in front of me a small sparkling... something. Upon closer inspection, yet from a safe distance, I found this to be some sort of floating light. Maybe like a willow wisp, yet this was inside a cave. I shall leave it alone for now.
As I moved more into the cave, I could see that there were many of these things. They are simply floating lights. They do not illuminate much around them, and they are chest height. There is nothing at all below them. I confirmed this by sweeping my foot under one, and it did not respond.
Deeper yet into the cave, I could see a red glistening on the floor. It was pools of blood, from adventurers not long before me. Kitevtwo, Jr., Valxon, and Kouson lay dead before me, and these lights just kept sparkling a sparkle of innocence. I knew that they had not killed these people, for they died in a row, lined up like a battle. More like a slaughter, really. I wish to take one step closer, that I may bury the bodies of these great warriors, but I wished not to share their fate. Across from them near the side of the wall is a statue, but I know not what of. This must have been the cause of their deaths, a trap. Or maybe it was a beast that I would see if I were to take one step closer. That ring on the floor seems to lure me to it. Oh, what should I do? I have nothing to lose, really. This is the moment when I become a man, and no longer a boy seeking thrills. I took one cautious step foreword into the glistening blood...
