The real thing

Cringing in shame
at how far I have fallen,
shaking with fear
of the price You might ask –
But all You shower down is flowers,
all You whisper is a kiss.

And Your banner over me
is Love.

You open wide the windows of my soul,
the scent of life starts wafting in,
like sunrise I remember there is more than sable,
I'm dancing in the dawn of every colour,
Your promises the shimmering
butterflies of childhood.

And Your gift to me
is Joy.

I know the darkness will come again,
Your flowers will wilt, but You
will never give up, Your rainbow grace
will linger like dew on my life.

And though the road is still so long,
the winding road to healing,
You are here, with open arms,
to save me from myself.
