Kchan: Ah! Spring is in the air again, even though Fall is nearing. :D Meaning... I'm going on a D-A-T-E and am totally head over heels right now. So here's some mushy love crap that I decided to spew at you reader out there! ::giggles and skips around merrily:: Not really based on anything just so you know. Basically, a few short stories written as if to a diary. And if you couldn't tell, 'kokoro' means 'heart' in Japanese, and I didn't know the word for 'diary' so it stayed the same. Enjoy!

Kokoro no Diary
-Heart's Diary-

The Movies

Dear Diary,
I glanced across the lunch room at you. I don't think you really noticed then, did you? Or maybe you did, but thought nothing of it. We are, after all, really close friends. So why should it seem strange to look your way? If you're asking yourself that question now, you obviously never saw the look in my eyes when I see you. Not very closely at least. A wanting lies behind my eyes, I can feel it. Not some sick perversion, but a wanting of the most innocent kind. I want to be by your side. To laugh with you, be there for you, all that and more...

...with you.

The group of people I sat with poked and prodded at me, trying to get me to snap back to reality. I blinked, smiled at them, and listened intently to whatever it was they were saying, while I glanced back at you every now and then. Had you seen me yet? I smiled, stomach knotting with anticipation. I had sent you notes on the computer, asking about a movie. Now I impatiently waited for your response. Hurry up and see me!

I hadn't seen you for months. Summer was long and tedious without you there to put a smile on my face. I did have a fun time, don't get me wrong. It just would have been better with you there. You finally look up and smile brightly, finally spotting me from all the way across the crowded cafeteria. You leave your table to rush over to me, and declaring rather loudly, "Out with you!" and pointed with mock-sterness at the door. I giggle and get up and leave, while you follow right behind.

Once outside the lunchroom, you practically tackled me in a bearhug and just about squeezed the life out of me. I giggled again and made some kind of strangled noise to show you that the hug was about to crush my ribs (or at least that's what it felt like). I, however, didn't make a move to let go of you either. It just felt so nice you have you by me once again. Finally, you pulled away and talked excitedly about your summer, and practically danced around with glee as you talked. I watched with fascination, truely amazed by you.

Unfortunately, it was time to go. You hurriedly tossed a pen at me and asked for my number, which I wrote on your arm for lack of paper or anything better to write it on. Apparently, I had accidentally given you a wrong number last time, so you couldn't call me. I waved goodbye and grudgingly set off for my afternoon classes. I tried not to think about you the whole time, I swear! But the unanswered question about the movies! You had told me several times that if I hadn't been such a close friend to you, you'd date me in an instant. Well, don't they say that close friends can sometimes make the best dates? Well, just as long as they're not like a brother or sister to you. Please, just answer me some time.

When I got home after school, I finished up my homework and did a few other things around the house. The phone rang, and it was none other than you! Good thing you couldn't see me, because I was practically dancing for joy when I heard you on the other end. We talked about whatever came to mind, which was nice since we hadn't gotten to talk much earlier. I can't remember all of it (something about your dog, flea markets, something else...), but I suspect you were just as glad to have me pick up the phone.

My heart nearly stopped when you finally asked.

"So, about that movie? You free Saturday?"

I think today was one of the best days I've had in ages. I feel that Saturday might be even better.

Kchan: Short. > But yay for happy endings! A lovely break from my dreary horror-streak, don't you think? ::is still in la-la-land:: I purposely kept the genders open. Can't you tell? Neither the narrator nor the person they love is described with a gender. Heck, I ddin't even use words like 'she' or 'he'. I think that's a rather nice accomplishment. Well, until next time!
