My Best Friend

I wait by my phone
For your call to connect
But I sigh when I realise
You're not coming back

I miss you already
though there's nothing to miss
Why did you have to lie
And ruin all this

You went to that party
You got drunk and had fun
But you took it too far
Now look what you've done

You lied to my face
About the adventures you had
I dunno why you cried
But I know you felt bad

Well while you were gone
Oh yeah, I read that letter
Found out a few too many secrets
Now, does that feel better

Did it feel good lying
To your (now) only friend
I'm having second thoughts
I want our relationship to end

Or do I, I wonder
As I stare blankly ahead
Because the truth hurts more
When it runs through my head

I want you to come back
Then I'll be happy again
So I can hug you once more
You'll always be my best friend
