Paper Thin
By: Lai

I know all the things you say,
When you think I'm not here,
But secretly, I've stayed,
With the wall against my ear.

It's so paper thin,
I can hear your breath,
Harmful words that do me in,
I don't want to hear the rest.

You ask me what's wrong,
But there's something you don't know,
So I'll smile and nod along,
Til I'm on the next bus home.

I was trying so hard to be,
All the things you liked to see,
But now that I know,
I'm on my way home.
