Beginnings

Take me to your wedding

I want to take your hand

Imprisoned by its band of gold

And ask you – as you tremble

If you're happy

Middles

I want to walk up to your door

Generic house, garden trimmed

Pale path framed by grass

And ask you – as you tremble

If you're happy

Endings

I'll walk through the old graveyard

Moss and stone and sunlight

Breathe it in and kneel beside the fresh turned earth

And ask you – in your stillness

If you're happy
