"Ballad"
Screaming in still sadness
Soundless reverberations
Echoing through every line
Of lovers' broken tryst
Listening to the mournful cries
Fluted in every word
Winding through pathways
Sing verses long of battle
A fallen soldier's name
Wisps of sadness captured
Betrayal, love, moonlit gloom
Tales of fog, dew, rapture
Rivers of centuries lost
Flowing to an endless sea of thought
Crashing waves sound ship's doom
Stories held long by phrases
Lisped by young and sung by old
Passed on and on through vanishing ages
Harmony of legends forgotten.
