Promised Confessions
by: trista groulx

He promised me the moon
And so much more
He promised me my dreams
And that was what I wanted

I confessed my guarded secrets
While he promised to keep them
I told him he was who I wanted
While he promised me the same

He promised to guide my path
And the guide was needed
He promised to stay the course
And that was what I needed

I confessed my truths
While he promised the sky
I confessed my soul
While promised he understood

He promised me the moon
And now I have nothing
He promised me my dreams
And now I have a broken path

He promised me he'd always love me
And that was all I wanted
He promised he understood the truths
And that was all I needed

He promised me the moon and sky
While I confessed it all
He promised me forever
But this forever was the shortest yet
