IF ONLY…

Breaking away from self pity

Packing the negatives away

Happiness edging in from the corners to make your scene just a little bit brighter…

But clinging on to that ebbing suspicion

That twinge of doubt that makes you cringe

That spot of depression that keeps you grounded so you cannot fly away

To soar away in total ecstasy would be surreal, but wrong

The inappropriateness of letting go of all the hurts they caused would be foolish, preposterous, pure madness

You’d hurt your precious pride, your right of passage to be correct

It haunts your daily life

But is it worth it?

Is the suffering of being right worth being miserable?

Is it fair?

Is it just?

For now you’ll just sulk in your sadness

And be just plain bitter

If only they could free you from the pain they caused

If only they could virtually reboot the relationship to a trouble-free time of simplicity

If only they could take it all away

If only…
