A girl waits for a letter

From her boyfriend at war

But what she received was

Worse that what she had hoped

The Letter she received

Told her that the boy she loved

Is gone, and he won't be coming home

A mother is anxious to hear

From her daughter at war

Better than what he expected

The Letter he received

Told him to look out the front door,
