Maybe You Will Hear

I am not one
That prays often
But I do it now
In front of your coffin.

I kneel there
With one single tear
Falling from my eyes
Praying that you'll hear.

I am not truly praying
But rather singing our song
And remembering before
Everything went wrong.

Singing to myself
But more so to you
Remembering everything
We had left to do.

The last notes of our song
The last words of my prayer
My deepening sorrow
Assure me that you're not there.
