Darling, you’re too pretty.

To the public - I hope you enjoy this. It's blank verse in nine-sylable lines (mostly) and I hope it seems creative. I wrote it after feeling heartbroken, listening to Too Much "The Smiths" and "The Arcade Fire" so blame them for this poem.I'm sure most people have had a Crush, or a boy/girl friend who have made them feel like this. What can I say, we are all attracted to those who have an air of mystery and beauty around them.

To the person I wrote this about, I apologise sincerly, and I mean you no harm. I only wrote it to help get you out of my head, though you still are very wonderful and are far nicer than I have depicted you in this poem. -. At least you now have a poem dedicated to you, which is more than most people can say (including myself)

XXXXXXXXXX

Everything in me is screaming “No.”
My heart, my liver, my sanity,
Darling, you’re too pretty for me
I can tell.
I’m ignoring all that good advice
That I keep getting told.

I know you’re bad for me sweetheart,
Those hands that wrap around me like fog;
Those eyes you flash like forest fires
Engulfing me entirely
Even you admit you’re no good,
So why do I still think about you?

That wild hair, that alluring scent
That still follows me like a delicious
Incense that befuddles my lost mind.
Stolen kisses in mosh pits and
Unquenchable lusts hand in hand;
Tender caresses and your poor painful wounds.

You’re too pretty darling, it’s all
I can do to do as you asked.
I know I’m just a distraction,
I know you’ll drag me down,
Engulf me in your muddy sorrow.
I know you aren’t responsible
I know I can’t save you from yourself.

“Tragically beautiful” they say;
You are, loveliness, so tragically
Wonderful, even your vices are
Artistically self-destructive.
I’m not even sure you love me,
So tragically stupid am I.

Beloved, I’ve got a future and hope of love,
I’m young and pretty, just like you.
Handsome men are two a penny, but
Darling, you’re so pretty; so
Aesthetically despicable;
So why can’t I take my mind off you?
