She was walking down the street with a spring in her step. The birds were singing, a breeze was blowing, and the doctors had announced that she was finally pregnant with her beloved husband’s child. All seemed right in the world.
She saw the plane. It was flying fast, as if it was fleeing from something. An object fell from its belly, and then the little jet disappeared. The strange object fell to earth, looking so very harmless, but a sick feeling of dread rose in her stomach. Why?...
Then it disappeared from sight among the houses of a nearby street, and what happened next took only a half-second, at most.
