This was literally a spur-of-the-moment kind of thing. I hate to say it, but someone knows it's for them. So don't ask.
There are two chapters to this poem: the poem version, and the song version. Go figure.
Missing you
In patches of consciousness
I hadn't realized
I was so dead
So dead
Without you
Walking the halls
Subconsciously looking
Looking for that face
Your face, burned into my mind
But I realize, realize
I won't find you
And every time
My soul sheds a tear
The days march by
Like soldier ants
All the same
All pointless
Pointless
Without you
Sometimes I listen
Straining my ears
Hoping to hear your voice
That soothing sound
I won't hear again
All we have now are words
Bereft of face or voice
But I cherish every one
Because I'm missing you
