A Darkened Room

‘Moonlight Sonata’ plays gently

In the warm comfort of night;

Soft forms emerge from shadows

Drawn by faded candle light

To a darkened room.

I saw you standing in the starlight-

A blue silk ghost in silhouette

Defined by rose perfume,

Enchanting all the creatures

In a darkened room.

Tell me all your stories-

I may tell you some of mine;

Let this hush fall all about you

As we slowly drink our wine.

Let us sit in solitude,

Sense the moonlight in our hair;

We will walk through empty streets

With our souls to bear.

Let us search out other candle lights

As we drift in rose perfume;

We two shadows from the dark

Seeking other darkened rooms.
