Children

The sun shines through the trees.

Step, twirl, step, twirl.

Fantastical things are all around.

Step, skip, step, skip.

Fish dance in the stream.

Step, giggle, step, giggle.

The children, fresh from infancy, notice all.

They wave at beings their parents cannot see.

“Fairies!” they squeal in delight.

“Your imagination,” their parents laugh.

Dance through the forest,

Pick flowers by the stream.

Happy, all the time.

So unaware of what may happen.

Tomorrow.
