eyelashes fluttering shut,
(shutting out light so harshly shone, highlighting every blemish and brilliance)
this world is blurred
(i dangle glasses between my fingers; you keep my eyes familiar with truth-
lines do not exist in their reality.)
dreams stir and settle in an unfocused mind
(wavering on the ledge between sleep and life.)

our options fade.
(stalemated; we can not move or end the game.)
and in my drowsiness, i’m almost content to stay locked in this position
(drawn so heavily to what i can not achieve; always look- not touch.)

i will struggle to solve this problem
(only impossible in honesty; improbable in my eyes.)
and write words
(so sought after they won’t fulfil demands)
for you.

note: written at two in the morning while more than half asleep.
