Red and black and yellow and white –
Pretty little witty little flutter-by!
Cheerful and playful and graceful and bright –
Prancer, little dancer, little butterfly!
May your dance be merry, little butterfly,
Like a jocund fairy, little butterfly!

Settle on a flower!
Foxtrot in the bower,
Giggling and fluttering your wings in flight!
Skipping on your tiptoe
In your little tutu,
Brandishing your colours in sheer delight!

Ornament a summer’s day!
Pirouette and plié!
Flip your wings and dance away!
Fill the garden with ballet!
For even the garden gnome
Doesn’t ever feel quite at home
Unless he sees you flutter by, butterfly;
Little butterfly, fly my way!
