Couldn't Make It

Just thought I

Would stop by

And tell you about today

Could not have been better

Even the weather was perfect in every way

Daddy cried when I walked to the stage

To take my new life in my hands

Even uncle Jim showed

But don’t worry I know

You couldn’t make it

Maybe you

Had something to do

Just like you always say

Do you wish now

That you’d found somehow

To help find my own way

And I cry as I give you this rose

At the foot of your cold marble home

It your love I missed

And oh how I wish

You could’ve made it
