My hands caress the ivory keys.

Gently, I release the first note.

Hanging longingly in the empty space,

It spills into a deluge of music.

A wave of emotion floods my eyes.

Black, white, and pink. My vision is blurred.

I push it all back, down, down, down

Into my fingers.

Play on, play on.

Arpeggio (n) -

See broken chord

The melodies carry my feelings away.

They speak for me when I am stricken dumb.

They cry for me when my tears need to hide.

Play on, play on.

Broken chord (n) -

A chord, with the notes separated and played

individually

The melody line begins to fall.

Cascading lower, it accelerates.

Meter is forgotten.

Then

One last long, lingering note.

Slowly, it fades.
