My Monochrome Dilemma
If a rose is just a rose
And black is just a color
Why can't I hold you close?
Why can't I be your lover
Why do you let him dictate
Who you can and cannot date
Based on something so ignorant
And way out of date
Why can't I ever hold you tight
As we laugh and talk through the night
If black is just a color
And a rose is just a rose
Why can't I be with you
And why am I stuck writing this prose
I'm the one who makes you laugh
And the one that listens to you cry
None of that will ever change
But I'm still asking why
The answer is simple
But sure as hell ain't right
The answer lies in shades
Shades of black and white
