Forgotten Fear
We are not invulnerable,
That’s the fear we forgot.
Shown to us once by Terrorists,
Shown to us now by the Hands of God.
This could never happen.
That’s what we though when the towers fell.
And this city we could never lose,
Is what we said as the flood waters rose.
Where does the blame lie?
Not to one citizen does it belong,
But to the arrogant politicians,
Sitting dry on Capitol Hill.
There’s not enough being done,
That’s what they’re telling us.
But are they down there swimming?
No, that’s not what they do.
So we are to sit and watch,
As idle help is given,
Only left to hope that next time,
Things will be different.
