My family was disrupted tonight. This isn't entirely true, since a) I would never cut, and B) I love my mother more than ever.
Stay my Hand
Her fingers drew lines along her flawless wrist,
Tracing scars that would never appear,
She looked them in the eyes and in a quiet voice,
Said, “You’re the only reason that I’m still here.”
“Last night I saw my life explode,
Their raised voice blew apart my world,
You guys are the only thing that holds me back,
The only people I’ll struggle on for.”
They sat there shocked beyond words,
They didn’t know it had gotten that bad,
Never once would they have ever thought,
They were the only thing that she had.
They didn’t ask, move or speak,
Not wanting to provoke her tears,
They just sat in the sad silence,
Understanding the pain she’d felt for years.
“I don’t want your pity, or your grief,
I don’t what you to feel my pain,
I just want you to go on like we did,
Though things will never be the same again.”
They promised that they would try there best,
And told her they’d always be her friends,
“You know will always love you for you,
And we’ll always be here to stay your hand.”
