Chapter one: Something unreal
The rain poured heavily on to the pavement making a pitter-patter sound once the showers hit the ground. People rushed to their destination through the cold rain, one man there with his coat over his head, and women carrying an umbrella, and some with nothing covering them at all. It all seemed to be a hustle and bustle of the city life, even if people were soaked in water.
The sound of clicking shoes mixed in with the pitter-patter of the rain. A young girl pushed past the crowds of people, her gray school uniform was drenched clutching it self to her skin. Her bow hung low from her chest as she ran towards her school. Looking down at her wrist-watch her eyes widen,“Oh no! That can’t be the right time. I’m going to be late for first period again!!!” She cried.
As she rounded the corner of the block she stopped at the cross walk. The city bus…No to slow, then she looked and turned towards the max station, Ahhh...even slower than the bus.She sighed, it was back to running. “If I’m late again mom will kill me, not to mention that this will be my sixth tardy straight!!” she moaned. Soaked, cold, and now tired she stopped to catch her breath. She looked over the area, people, houses, and a bike rack. Then she smiled.
A bike. She could use a bike, but she didn’t have her bike with her. She sighed, her life was screwed. There was no way she could have this much bad luck in one day, and the day had just started it was only nine o’ clock. She groaned, the school gates closed at ten o’ thirty and the school was at least three blocks away.
She kept her eyes glued to the ground gripping her backpack strap tightly. As she continued down the sidewalk she didn’t lift her eyes from the pavement, not paying attention to where she was going, she ran right into another person. BAM!! There was aloud crash as the both of them went flying to the ground, and right into a mud puddle. “I-I’m sooo sorry…I wasn’t looking where I was going and well I’m…”she mumbled trying to slow herself down while also trying to spit out apology.
She bumped into a boy who looked a little older than her, he had dark brown spiky hair, and chocolate brown eyes, the uniform he was wearing looked just like the ones from her school, a long sleeved sailor shirt with navy blue pants. Maybe he went to her school, the past days she really hadn't been paying attention to school. So did he? “Are you okay miss?” he asked extending one of his hands out to her as the other on held an umbrella. “Yeah I’m fine.” She said as she reached for his hand, but her eyes caught sight of her wristwatch, which read 10:23.
“Oh man! There’s no way I’m going to get to school on time now.” She squealed brushing past his hand then jumping to her feet, “Maybe I’ll see you later. I’ve gotta go, nice meeting you.” She shouted over her shoulder as she disappeared into another sea of people. The boy blinked then rubbed the back of his head, “Ummm…okay.” He mumbled.
She made a mad dash towards the school. I'm gonna to make it. I'm gonna make... The school gates came into reach, she had almost made it. "Yes I'm almost there, and I've made it with time to spare." She smiled maybe today wasn't going to be as bad as she thought.
That is until the unthinkable happened. "Oh no!!!"she cried as the school doors slammed in her face. She pulled the gate doors, but she soon stopped when her eyes caught asight of the huge lock.
"I'll be calling your parents Miss Nakamura." said a voice beyond the school gates.
She groaned,"Please !Just this once I promise I won't do it ever again."
The older women looked away and started the in the direction of the front door,"You can come in when your parents come and meet with me." So she sat in front of the school's gates and waited for her parents to come. I'm way dead, I'm not even dead...I'm so past being dead. When mom and dad get through with me it will be like I never existed. She sighed, this day was unreal. She had to be dreaming, there was no way she could have this much bad luck in one day. She looked down at her feet then screamed.
Her school uniform was covered in mud. How had she not noticed it before? She lifted her arms and looked for any more damage to the uniform, her eyes widen both of the sleeves were torn. Oh yeah she was really beyond dead.
She sat and watched her parents expressions turn from concern to frustration. She ducked down into the princpal's chair, she couldn't handle this she had to be cursed. After what seemed like hours of talking to , they came after her.
" Saiya Maiu Nakamura! Do you know how much trouble your in?" her mother shouted the anger in her voice seemed to rise, and she hadn't even explained what she did wrong.
Saiya gulped. She had never seem her mother this angry before even her father looked scared of her."I'm sorry, it wasn't my fault. Taro messed with my alarm clock again, and he's the one making me late." Saiya explained trying not to dig herself too deep in the hole that she was in.
"I'm so disappointed in you Saiya, your brother is six years old and your sixteen years old. How are you going to blame this on him?" Saiya didn't know what to say. Not like her mother had never said that before, but she was always at fault so what if her brother was younger. All that meant was he could get away with everything.
"Words really can't even explain how much trouble your in, and looked at your uniform. It's ruined." Her mother continued. Saiya looked over at her father who hadn't said a word. She gave him a please-make-her-stop look, but he didn't seem to be reading it very well.
"Six times! Six times Saiya, your have been late six times this week. And in a row!"
"Sorry mom." Saiya said looking down at her feet.
handed Saiya a piece of paper then pushed a pen into her hand. "To make up the times you were tardy, you must volunteer in our Student exchange program. A student from America will becoming here for a year and one of the students here will be going to America." Saiya rasied one of her eye brows. What did the Student exchange have to do with her?
"That piece of paper in your hand says that you agree to escort the student around school and Japan." added.
Saiya's eyes widen. She had to be a tour guide to a student from America, had the world gone mad. She couldn't babysit some stranger, she was already behind as it was. "Are you serious?!"
"Very much so. If you do not agree to do this, I am afraid that I will have to hold you back a year."
Saiya sluched back into to the chair. There was no way of getting out of this, she tilted her head over towards her parents. No sympathy looks what so ever. "Okay." she said finally giving in. She sighed, Nope there really wasn't a way of getting out of this mess.
"Then I need you to sign your name here." said pointing to the bottom of the page."
Saiya did as she was told, then handed the page back to her. "Umm.. if you don't mind me asking but which student is going to America?"
took the page and placed it inside a yellow folder then slide it into her desk. "Takara Asukai." she said simplely sitting back down into her office chair.
"What!!" Saiya shouted slamming her hands down on the desk. "Take-san is going to America?!" There was no way Take-san was going to surive going to America, sure she was probably the smartest girl in the school, but there was no way. Take-san is a caution freak, plus she scared of flying.
"Saiya calm down." Her father said ushering her to relax. "Theres no need to excited."
Saiya threw her hands in the air then huffed. "Excited? I'm not excited, thats the excate oppsite of what I am." she said crossing her arms. A knock came to the door and in the princpal's assisent, she whispered something into the princpal's ear then just as she arrived she was gone as well.
"Well good news, the the exchange student is here."
Saiya growled then turned and faced the door as the person appeared. Saiya stood stunned as a familiar face entered the room.
"It's...You!" Saiya exclaimed pointing her index finger at him. She jumped back, this day was the craziest, unreal day she had ever lived.
(Hope you liked the first chapter :) It's funny how bad Saiya's luck is isn't. Life is a screwy thing ain't it?)
