Chapter two: Issues which are problems
Saiya flopped down on her bed letting her hair fly over her face. Her two friends held looks of concern upon their faces as they sat next to Saiya on her bed. “Saiya it's not that bad, me going to America and all. I mean Leon seems nice.” Takara said trying to cheer up her friend.
“Take-san how could you say that. There's no way this is going to work, and for a year at that.” Saiya countered shooting up from her bed.
“Well you know you could always get to know Leon, he didn't seem like all that bad of a guy.” Yumi said looking at her friend.
Saiya said nothing more about it. She sighed then placed her head on her pillow and gave side ways glances at her friends, everything seemed to be going down hill for her ever since she became a second year student. “How soon do you leave Take-san?”
She quickly glanced at her wrist-watch then frowned. “In about six hours.” She turned towards Saiya. “I really should be getting home, I haven't packed at all plus I have to call Ichiro and tell him that I'm leaving.” she said mumbling the last part.
“How can you think of my brain-dead brother at a time like this?” Saiya said.
Ichiro also known as Officer Nakamura was her older brother, he never finished high school but instead he went a “special school” were they trained him to be a police officer and him and Take-san were sort of going out. And “sort of” were the key words in this situation.
Yumi sat and picked at her acrylic nails as silence grew between the three girls. Maybe she was blowing this out of proportion, maybe this wasn't as bad as she thought. The time came for Takara to go home, her mother beeped her on her cell phone. Takara sighed then left the two sitting on the bed.
Yumi and Saiya chased after her. “We'll walk you home.” they said in a unison.
Saiya's Pov
I looked out of the airport's window then glanced over at Takara.. Takara watched amazed by the plans and people in the airport. By the looks on her face it was as if she was a kid in a candy store. Yumi was on my right while Leon was on my left and Takara was in front of us. walked behind us with Mr. and Mrs. Asukai and my parent's walked behind them.
My younger brother Taro clutched tightly to my mother's hand as he and my mother passed a crowd of people. To put it straight. He was afraid of big places with a lot of people. Which I truly don't understand because he goes to school with tons of kids. I shook my head to rid myself of the thought, and press myself to the matter at hand.
Leon seemed pretty zoned out, I mean he stood out for one thing. Brown spiky hair, and light yet dark chocolate brown eyes. But by the look on his face he was completely lost, it was like he had never been in a new place before. An environment with new people and different language. I honestly don't see the point of him even coming to Japan, my best friend that I had known all most all of my life was going away for a year. Why did it seem like my fault.
We approached the check in point where a women in a blue uniform greeted us, her cheesy fake smile gave me the creeps. It was as if she was saying “shoot me now!” No one else seemed to see through her phoniness as they all said “hello” to her and Takara showed the women her ticket.
She gave that creepy smile and directed us to where the passengers board the plane. Leon set on of Takara's boxes of things in the luggage check point and I followed after him. For someone who was going to be leaving for a year, Take-san sure wasn't bring a lot of things with her. Two boxes and a backpack was what she had, plus a pocket of money that her parent's over whelmed her with.
Leon watched quietly from behind us all. Yumi had been watching him the closet and I had been watching her from the corner of my eyes.
“I think he feels left out. Since he never really got a chance to meet Take-san.” she whispered.
I just shrugged. It wasn't his fault that he's existence in being here all laid on Take-san leaving. “I guess.”
Normal Pov
“Wait! Take-san!” a familiar voice called. A boy with short clean cut black hair appeared, he was very tall and slender and was carrying a small brown package in his hands. Takara smiled once she realized who it was. It was officer Nakamura the second, aka Ichiro Nakamura.
Saiya smiled as her older brother appeared on the scene. Slightly out of breath he stopped in front of the group panting for air. “This..is..for you..Take-san.” she smiled and accepted the gift. She happily unwrapped the gift and stood in awe once she saw what it was.
“Oh thank you Ichiro-sama.” she said holding the gift up for everyone to see. It was a beautiful necklace with a golden heart-locket on the end of it. She quickly put it on then ran and gave Ichiro a hug. Being the shy person that he was he started blushing madly. “Cutting it kinda close there big bro..” Saiya mumble through her teeth.
Yumi shushed Saiya not wanting her to ruin the moment between the two. Mr. Asukai didn't seem all that pleased by his daughter hugging a boy, Mrs. Asukai had to hold him back until they parted from each other.
Takara waved goodbye as she boarded the ramp towards the seating area on the plane. Saiya turned away from the take off of the plane as for the parting between her and her dearest friend was far to great.
Leon tapped Saiya on her shoulder and asked if she was alright. She said nothing she just walked away with Yumi and her parents behind her.
The trip home was a long one. How could she have been so stupid as to take a cab in Japan, it was Japan after all were it was crowded with people and cars twenty-four seven. Leon sat on the end by the one window and Saiya sat in the middle while Yumi sat by the other window. “That's it! We're going to walk around Japan today, thank you very much but we're leaving.”
Yumi pushed open the cab's door and the three of them weaved themselves back to the side walk. Saiya placed her hands behind her head as she lead the way to their next destination she watched Leon from the corner of her eyes and saw that he had his hands in his pockets. “So where should we go first on our tour?” Saiya said turning towards the two.
Leon shrugged. Like that was helpful she turned towards Yumi who seemed more interested in a boy that was walking by then what Saiya had to say. “Hello earth to Yumi?” she shouted. Yumi snapped back to reality, “What did you say Sai?” Yumi asked sweetly.
Saiya giggled then shook her head. Yumi had always been boy crazy out of her,Takara and Saiya. So it was only natural that she would act that way for a cute boy. “Well I suppose we could hang out at the mall?” Yumi said bringing her index finger to her chin. Saiya shook her head. That was a good idea they could start the tour at the mall... before Saiya knew what happened her face was slammed into the pavement.
“Ouch....that hurt.” she mumbled as she rubbed her face ,she reached grabbing the nearest thing she could find. She soon found that it was the extended hand of Leon. Deja vu it was just like when we first met. She shook her head and gave him her thanks. He smiled then simple said “No problem.”I guess that he not all bad. She thought smiling.
Turning her attention to what she ran into. It was a telephone pole. A light blush found it's way on her face, how could she have been so clumsy and not pay attention to where she was going. Yumi's voice soon rang out appointing to her that she was waiting for them. She rushed over to her with Leon right behind her.
“What's the big deal leaving us like that Yumi?” Saiya asked slightly annoyed by what her friend just did.
Yumi said nothing she just grabbed the arm of her friend and pulled her to the entrance of a huge building. She pointed to the sign then started jumping up and down with excitement.. “Girls wanted! Come help those who need help, come in pairs and the group with the most stars wins a prize.” Leon said reading the sign.
“So what about it?” Saiya said rolling her eyes.
“We should try it!” Yumi said now pulling on her friend's blouse sleeve.
“Why? We don't even know what the job is? It could be some perv just trying to look at girls” she said placing her hand over her head. This whole tour thing wasn't going as she had planned, matter of fact that was the story of her whole life. Things not going her way. She sighed then shook her head “Our plan was to go to the mall.” she said crossing her arms.
Leon lightly tapped her on the shoulder than pointed towards the building. Saiya turned around and looked at him then saw what her was pointing at. “If my Japanese is correct this is the mall.” he said rubbing the back of his head.
“Oh well then....” she said “Let's just hang out at the mall and we...” She began awaiting to meet her friends eyes, but was soon disappointed when she found out that Yumi was already inside of the mall.
Yumi I swear you have the attention span of a gold fish, exactly 2.5 seconds. She balled her hands into tight fists. I wish that you would listen to me once in a while...I swear one day your going to kill me. Breathing heavily she tried to relax then with a sigh of relief she was calm once more.
“I suppose that we should go after her.” Leon said pointing to the direction in which the crazed teen went. He grabbed her hand then quickly ran towards Yumi. A light blush appeared on her face as his hand touched her's. Why am I blushing? She shook the blush from her face as they arrived at the help wanted shop. Yumi cheerful stood at the counter with a clip-board plastered in her hand.
“You guys stay here while I go try out.” she said with a smile then followed a women to the back of the room.
“Wait Yumi...”she started. With a heavy sigh she admitted defeat and soon found her self sitting and waiting. Leon followed suit and sat next to her his eyes wandering around the room seeing everything thing that his eyes could take in.
Saiya sat quietly trying to keep her mind off this problem that she created for herself. She gave a side glance at Leon and watched as he gazed around the room. “You seem very interested by the stuff in this store.” He said nothing, he just leaned back in the chair.
“Right.” she mumbled turning the other way.
30 minutes later....
Yumi appeared from the shadows of the back room with a piece of paper in her hand. Her cheerful smile still clung to her face. As she drew closer to her friends her smile grew at what she saw, Saiya's head was peacefully resting on Leon's shoulder while his head rest upon her head.
“Glad to see that you guys are getting along.”
“Huh?” Saiya said rubbing the sleep from her eyes. She quickly jumped when she felt something on top of her head, shoving him to the side she brushed off the embarrassment that she just suffered from.
“So what happened did you get the job,or what ever this thing was?” Saiya asked wondering what happened.
“They told me to come back tomorrow, there's some guy that was suppose to be here. He's a third year student I think.” she said explaining everything. “But the good news is I took the third spot and there's only two left.” she said with a huge grin.
“Are you done now? I think Leon maybe permanently asleep.” Saiya said flicking him on the forehead.
He reacted immediately leaping up then saluting Saiya. “Sergeant Leon reporting for duty!”he said in plain blunt voice.
“Ummm..what are you doing?” Saiya and Yumi said in a unison pulling him away from the store.
“You idiot! What was all that about?” she asked as the three of them left the mall.
“You surprised me!” he said in English.
“Surprised, yeah that's the understatement of the year.” she mumbled in English. Yumi just listened to the two she had no clue what they were saying, for she never understood english. In fact she was horrible at it. She raised an eye brow as every word rushed through her head it all was too over whelming. It sounded like “blah blah blah blah...and yahdiyahdiya..”
They immediately stopped arguing when the sounds of shouting broke through. “Someone please help! That man stole my purse!” cried a women's voice.
Shoving Yumi to the ground the thief tried to make his way pass the trio. Saiya narrowed her eyes she raised her bag then threw it smacking the thief in the back of his head. Falling he lost his balance which also caused him to loose his grip on the purse. He bent down reaching for it until Saiya slammed her foot down onto his hand.
“Hey jerk! You can't just go around purse snatching. It's no wonder people like you stink up the air in Tokyo.” she growled. Leon and Yumi watched in awe as a crowd started to form.
He snatched his hand quickly from her foot trying to make his escape. “Where do you think your going?!” Saiya grabbing him by the collar then shifting her weight flipped him over onto his back.
“You bitch! Your going to pay for that!” he said slowly standing. He reached into his pocket, Saiya's eyes widen as he pulled out a knife. He smirked as everyone gasped. Then everything grew silent as he lunge towards her.
“Saiya move!” Yumi and Leon cried in a unison. Leon thinking on his feet rushed to jump in front the attack, he winced as the knife came into contack with his skin. He fell to the ground clutching his right arm.
Forgetting about the purse the thief dropped his knife then instantly took off away from the scene. “Oh no you don't!” she shouted. Calling Yumi to her side she told her to wait until the Ichiro showed, and she was going after the purse-snatcher.
“Get back here you dumb-ass!” she hollered closing onto the man. “Running won't do you any good! So give up now!” she added.
Not giving up the chase he took a short cut past the magazine shop and right into an ally. She slid to a hault as arrived at the ally, her hands tightly balled into fist she drew closer to the man. He shakely backed up trying to feel a way around Saiya, she kept her eyes locked on his movements.
“Get out of my way!” he said lashing out and grabbing on to her arm.
“How dare you hurt my one of my friends! You must just wake up wanting to get slapped!” She screamed kicking him sharply with her heel then socking him in the face. A cry of terror echoed through the small ally as the man flew back atop of some garbage cans falling into unconsciousness.
“Teaches you to mess with me.” she said dusting herself off. She turned to leave but stopped when the sound of sirens filled her ears. She smiled when her brother and his partner appeared.
She clapped her hands together then grinned. “This one's all taken care of.” Ichiro laughed nervously then patted his sister on the head. He explained that Leon and Yumi were taken down to the police station, she nodded. She waved good-bye to the two and started out to catch up to her friends.
A women about in her late twenties came into view. Her short curly brown hair clung to her face as she smiled brightly then bowed once Saiya handed her back her purse. She thanked her greatly then disappeared into the massive swarm of people. Saiya looked over her shoulder over at her friends, Yumi carefully wrapped Leon's arm as he rested on the medical bed.
He grunted and winced as Yumi tighten the bandages, Saiya watched as he dug his fingers into the bed trying to relive himself of the pain. Yumi glanced over at the clock, seven o' clock. She reached for her shoulder-bag then stood heading for the door. “I gotta go it's getting late. See you at school tomorrow.” she said
Saiya and Leon both glanced at each other hold the same expression of the awkward moment. He turned the other way and let his head hang low, she sighed then sat next to him. “What's wrong? You seem pretty depressed for a guy who just saved me.” she said a slight smile on her face. He said nothing.
“Want me to take you home?”
He nodded then climbed out of the bed then headed towards the door. The two walked in silence glanceing everywhere they could so they wouldn't meet each other's gaze. Saiya looked down with a shocked expression on her face, she held out her bag and started rummaging through it until she found what she was looking for. Her cell phone.
“Hello?” she asked.
“Hey Sai it's me Yumi, I was just calling to see how Leon was. Is he doing okay?” she asked concern dripping from her every word.
Saiya gave a side glance at Leon to see that his face still held mellow, calm features. “Yeah he's doing better now. I'm taking him home just to make sure he's okay though, I'll check in with in a bit okay?”
“Okay talk to you then. Bye Sai” Saiya hung up the phone and looked in Leon's direction; he was still quiet and laid-back. He seemed so uncaring so releaved from everything around him, it didn't even seem like his arm was bothering him any more.
“Here it is.” he said pointing to a red apartment building with a tiny black fence around it.
( I think I'll end it there. I hope you like it!)
