Episode 2: Varian

“Why did you bring her here?” The brown-haired man from earlier asks when he sees Fin and Lance standing in the doorway.

“Hello. Klan.” Lance carries Hope over to a bed where he sets her down. “She’s the goddess we’ve been looking for.”

“What?” Klan asks sounding annoyed. Fin walks over and sits at the table across from Ruri.

“She was attacked by Haime and Surre. That means that Deion already knows about her.” Fin says.

“Well. I guess we’ll have to split up now.” Klan says leaning on the wall.

“Yeah, but who gets to take her?” Fin points to Hope. it’s silent for a moment.

“No one gets to take me.” Hope says sitting up. They all look at her. “What is this about anyway? Who are you?”

“You are the reincarnation of the goddess who once defeated the evil demon lord. She gave her life to save the world, but she was reborn in you because the evil has returned again.” Klan replies coldly. The others nod when she looks at them questioningly.

“What do you mean who gets to take me?” she asks. ‘I gotta get out of here.’ She thinks to herself.

“Originally it was just Klan and Lance who were searching for you, but as each of us discovered our powers we decided to join them.” Ruri replies looking her in the eyes.

“Of course to fully revive your powers we’d have to find the seven rainbow gems.” Klan says. “But they’re hidden so finding them’ll be difficult. We may have to travel…”

“Wait a minute!” Hope interrupts him. “What if I don’t want to do this?” She asks. They all look at her surprised. It’s silent for a moment.

“Well then that’s your decision, but you probably won’t live long enough to see the repercussions of your decision on mankind and the world.” Klan replies coldly. He turns around and leaves the room. Hope gets up.

“I’m sorry. It’s just…” She looks at each of them. “I have to go.” She leaves quickly. ‘I have got to get home.’

She walks along the sidewalk. ‘We’re right near the school. I can get home from here easy.’ She thinks to herself and starts walking. ‘Better not go through the park.’ She passes the park without glancing at it. At the end of her street she sees a young man standing. He has long golden blonde hair and wears jeans and a three-quarter sleeved black button shirt. He’s gorgeous. She passes him and he grabs her arm. She turns around.

“You’re lovely miss.” He says locking his misty green eyes on hers. She blushes. “May I ask your name?”

“My name? Oh yes. It’s Hope. Hope Atlanta.” She replies clumsily.

“Hope? That’s a lovely name…” He kisses her. Her eyes widen because at the same moment a sword has passed through her side missing her stomach by inches. “I’m sorry goddess, but for my revenge to be realized you must die.” He lets her fall to the ground before aiming his blood-soaked sword at her heart.

“Deion!” A young girl flies in. She has her long light brown hair tied up in a high ponytail and her deep violet eyes show anger. “Leave her alone!” She slashes at him with her own sword. She wears a short denim skirt, a black tank top and knee-high black boots.

“Who are you?” Deion asks looking quit surprised.

“You can call me the warrior of Honesty.” She replies attacking him.

“You’re too late warrior. Your goddess will surely die.” Deion says disappearing. The girl quickly runs over and checks over her wounds. She then picks her up and carries her off.

Hope awakens back in the room she was in earlier. She sits up fully expecting the pain of bandages, but there are none.

“What happened?” she asks looking at her stomach and the spot where the sword went through. There’s but the tiniest mark.

“You’re awake.” The girl walks in. “If your concerned about your wound. Fin healed you.” She says sitting next to her on the bed. “My name is Varian by the way. Ruri is my big brother.”

“Who was that? The man who attacked me I mean.” Hope asks.

“That was Deion.” Varian replies. “Your enemy.”

“He’s gorgeous.” Hope states blushing again.

“Yes, but very dangerous.” Varian says sadly…
