Note: Parts of this dream were recreated from one of my own.

Phoenix

“I’ll see you soon, Jenny.”

“Yeah,”

Why doesn’t she see him? Oh, Jesus! His eyes! Look at his eyes! The little boy’s eyes are full of blood!

Jenny woke up wanting to scream. She couldn’t move, and her body was slicked with icy sweat.

His eyes were full of blood. And he’s still here. That little boy is here and if I go to sleep, he’ll make my eyes full of blood too.

They scared her, these dreams. Scared her bad. Scared her so bad she wanted to scream. But not Jenny, no Jenny was a good girl who knew she shouldn’t scream. The little boy wasn’t really there. Breathing heavily, Jenny wiggled closer to the wall and tried to calm down. She let her eyes close slowly, afraid to go to sleep, but she knew she’d sleep. She was so tired…

(He’s going to make your eyes full of blood Jenny…)

Her eyes snapped back open. She knew the voice was just in her head. She had to sleep.

(Red, dripping EVIL blood, Jenny…)

She was a mouse, a little mouse in a corner…

(I’m the kitty-cat, Jenny…and I want)

…with a cat coming closer and

(Closer now, Jenny-mouse…)

it would keep circling and circling in the dark until her heart exploded from fear. Despite her paralyzing fear, Jenny slipped back into her troubled dreams.

Jenny was running. She had to keep running or the monster would get her.

(You’re too old for monsters, Jenny)

I know, I know, but you’re a monster you’re a monster and I have to stay ahead because if you get me…

(You don’t know that do you, clever Jenny)

bad things bad things it’ll be bad I don’t want to know I just want to get away!

(Turn around, Jenny)

No! No no no! I don’t what to see!

(You’re going to trip and fall then I’ll get you, Jenny, I’ll get you and you know what I’ll do? Do you know?)

No and I don’t wanna know ‘cause you’re bad you’re EVIL I have to keep running!

Jenny had to get to where the light was, because the thing couldn’t get her in the light. Eric would be in the light and he would make sure the thing couldn’t get her. As soon as Jenny thinks this, her foot catches on a tree root, twisting her ankle. She screams. The thing is closer now, so close Jenny can smell it’s awful breath.

(That’s from eating all the ones I caught, Jennifer. All the screaming ones)

NO! I can’t die like this! Where’s Eric? Where’s anyone?

(I got him already, Jenny. He’s dead alright, and he tasted GREAT)

It was behind her. She didn’t want to look- she had to. She turned her head slowly and screamed. I wasn’t really a man but she was sure it had been. Now it was a horrible twisted thing, with scabby flesh where it’s eyes should have been. Its lips had been stitched back onto its mutilated face, and as it smiled she could see endless rows of pointed, cracked teeth.

Jenny’s eyes snapped open to stare at the dark. She was too scared to scream. Just behind the fear, she was confused. Who was Eric?
