I gaze into your eyes,

Immeasurable and azure as the heavens.

Soaring through that sky

Without a cloud in sight,

I relish this feeling;

Nothing confines me; there is only horizon.

Deep as the sea below are they also.

“We plumb the unfathomable depths;

The proof comes only when our line runs out,”

Says the wise man, the sage;

His truth dumbfounds scholars.

I have tried to fathom your eyes,

And I have lost my line to them;

You have sunk me, and now

I drown in that bottomless ocean,

Staying silent for fear of being found there.

Hopelessly I struggle

Against the depths, day and night,

For I refuse to escape;

I embrace this death, a death I could,

Perhaps, escape, were I willing.

Hasten my demise, I pray you!

Cast me out or finish me, lest I go mad;

The worst part of dying is not death.

What power has led me

That I come to this fate by chance?

I have strayed into a fatal trap,

Deadly, unwittingly set. Thus now I say it,

Without hesitation, to all I know, Adieu!
