Aux Pax Aux Bellam

(Either Peace Or War)

The sun is shining but dark clouds creep

Along the sky and the heavens begin to weep

Flowers and bird song seen and heard in the light

Disappear as the clouds roll in and day betrays the night

Alone I sit with nothing to feel

With no dark intent nor secrets to reveal

I listen to sad songs and lament

Curious where my past sadness was sent

With the end of the song comes no lasting pain

Stagnant in my mind I'm neither mad nor sane

I squint my eyes against the sun's glare

Returning my feline companions state

I wonder what he sees when he looks at me

As he lifts his lazy head from my knee

What does he think of all his day?

As he chases the mouse is it work or play?

Does the duck that has left her young to bathe

Want to give them the attention they crave?

Or do their cries go unnoticed until such a time

That abandoning her wishes is not such a crime

A jet roaring is echoed but the thunder rolling

My clock sounds so happy in its tolling

But for me the chime is oh so grim

For now my shift begins

But I will return to tell you all

The story of a man who continues to fall

How long to blood tears take to dry?

Does the grave end a lifetime of lies?

What's wrong with one more sin

Does the cheated prey in the end win?

Questions flow through the young man's mind

Though he dare not search least he find

The answers he knows but still denies

He looks to the weeping body and sighs

"Let me tell you a story of one I knew

Who's eyes were stained with an icy blue

She cried all night and all day

To bring others attention her way

But people began to tire of her tears

And she though she'd lost the love of her peers

Because when she cried none paid attention

And less and less her name got mentioned

Seeing this she lost hope and slept with a knife

By the morn satin sheets had soaked up her life

Then at her funeral all her loved ones were there

Weeping and mourning sobbing words of care

The skies rained for days without relent

For the girl had received the prayers loved ones sent

And flooded the heavens with tears or remorse

Regretting then her chosen course."

He had lied of course all over again

Though after the funeral there was a little rain

And so this is how he lived his life

Lie after lie to keep him from strife

She looks at his face and slowly smiles

And then he knows she is his in a short while

"I would betray life to swim in your tears

To carry the welcome burden of your fears

So you need no suffer the weight of their pain

Your kiss renews my strength as it begins to wane"

They embrace with tender grace

And he licks away the tears from her face

Visions flicker like a flame in the breeze

In his mind the angel pleads

Even as he caresses her into bed

Regret wells up torturing his head

It's happening again his divine lust

As once again he betrays his trust

A promise to himself he's never kept

In memory of the first angel that wept

The truth though is that he doesn't care

Sympathy and love are too much to bare

He is living his life on borrowed time

Punished lovingly for his only crime

I tire of this story now for it hurts me so

Read a million words and you'll still never know

How he suffers and how he mourns

How he dreads with the oncoming dawn

Feel no pity for this heinous beast

And cheer mockingly when his hearts ceased

Hang him high and bury him low

Least his remains poison new seeds sown

Help me now and face your fears

I am the icy blades in your tears

Hang me high and bury me low

Least my dark secrets strangle

The new seeds you sow
