Beomare

Belligerent Beomare, fire-foal of Ecgthquine,

Star-eyed shadow’s bane, fleet-footed wild-heart

Came to the aid of the Danish dwarf

Hrothpony,

Her stable-mate and ruler of Stablerot

Whose golden stalls echoed with shrill screams

Of terrified thoroughbreds beset by gruesome Grendlion

Deadly dread demon-cat, mangy mare murderer

Devilish devourer of dainty Danish herds

Cold-hearted colt killer, fiendish filly-slaughterer

Hellish horse-hunter, and unchecked malevolent maniac

Brave battle-lusting Beomare whistled defiantly,

“Thrown open my golden stall that I may roam the moor!

And gallantly gallop against the feline foe

The tawny tiger shall fall to my fiery speed!

I shall crush him beneath my diamond hooves

And by God’s will toss him back to the depths of Hell!”

So sayeth the wind-runner, racer of sylphs,

Crimson-tailed fire-eater, most marvelous mare,

Flame-coated demon-slayer, swiftest of equines!
