Are we all just problems

To be tossed aside?

Our time has come

And gone

Our five minutes

Of unwanted fame

Which some search for

All their lives

And others avoid

Like the plague

Creeping along

Unnoticed

While the rest

Live their lives

Like an unpredictable ride

Carried

Loud and screaming

All the way

We think we are so complex

Hidden and mysterious

Unpredictable

When in reality

People see through us

Still judge us

No matter what we do

To hide

And avoid the scrutiny

Of others

Casting away

Our doubts

We lift up our heads

Face the words and laughter

When we really want to hide

Run away from our problems

Which we cannot fix

But this world

Is too harsh

And we cannot face

Its unbidden scorn

So we hide

But words are not beings

And they can still follow us

Still haunt us

You cannot run

And you cannot hide

From something insubstantial

Yet so sharp

It stings

And leaves scars

That only you can see

Curl up

Lick your wounds

Hide from the world

That is what we do

Always have done

Always will

After all,

We are only human

And we make mistakes

That only a human can make

We are cowards

And we pay for it
