Quiet Life

Cool plastic beneath my fingertips soothes skin baked by harsh sunlight all day.

The night air is fresh, a welcome relief from the glaring heat of mid-afternoon.

Purple clouds, dark bruises against the pale dusky sky, leave the only traces of a rose-red sunset.

Breezes flow like lustrous silk across sun-roughened skin as burnished gold plumerias weave their heady aroma throughout the air…

This is the quiet life
