untitled

by spootasia tomoe

--

--

light shines through me

like windows of paper

transparent

apparent

nothing you can’t tell

everything you can hold against me

it’s all yours

what you’ll have of me

there is nothing I can hold back

even if I tried—your words

precursory words only

to my fate you seek to control

will not dictate the future

I make an attempt to save

the ones I left behind

--

I was never good

at distortion

and though my love

and my pride

kill your stabs at extortion

you can see the pain in my eyes

as you administer all

your knowledgeable techniques

for breaking bonds and minds and souls

what I deserve

what I defy

all I will give you

is my broken life

and my soon-broken lies

--

but, though the lies flow like blood

like intoxicating, inebriating wine

unfortunately, for me, for them,

I have more blood left to spill

than I have left inventions of the mind

forgive me my trespasses

and the ones I left behind

deliver me from evil

please, let me die.
