My Valentine

A touch of lips—
Oh what a shame!
For such a kiss
To bring such pain!

It was from the kiss—
We bled such blood;
It’s far from bliss—
Felt from such love!

And so I loved you?
And so you shined?
And so you weren’t true—
My broken Valentine?

Brush of fingertips—
We should refrain!
What a thing to miss—
To bring such pain!

It was the touch—
That brought us here;
Into the dust—
To disappear!

And so you cared truly?
Was I so blind?
You thought you knew me—
My tearful Valentine?

A sweet embrace—
It was so real!
Such a disgrace—
For what we feel!

It was the day—
That brought us here;
To fade away—
To disappear!

And so you believed—
I’m yours and you’re mine?
Oh how you’ve been deceived—
My dying Valentine!
